If Marx was reincarnated in 1960 and lived through 20th century capitalism, feminism and eco-activism, this is how his analysis could look today.

I’ve stripped away his jargon, kept his emphasis on understanding class, dropped the “inevitable revolution”. I use class very broadly to understand all forms of work – raising our families, greening our world, organising politically – and ask how we can make all of these more egalitarian.

The value of class analysis is this emphasis on how changing roles and rewards shape our future. We are reminded that rising inequality and vested interests will undermine social stability, that our political organisations need to be open and democratic  to create a more equitable future.
